However, in 2016, the date was changed to May 8th to coincide with the anniversary of the first episode of Star Trek: The Original Series pilot, "Future Prime."

 * A Celebration of Exploration: Star Trek Day is a day for fans to celebrate the enduring legacy of Star Trek and its message of hope, exploration, and diversity.
