The Jersey Devil's Delight

Legend has it that the Jersey Devil, a nightmarish creature said to roam the Pine Barrens of New Jersey, has a rather… specific taste. Sightings often describe the Jersey Devil with a taste for raw horseflesh. Now, we're not exactly recommending a raw horse sandwich here at the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve (let's leave that to the Jersey Devil), but this legend does speak to the strange and sometimes monstrous things people have associated with sandwiches throughout history.

In Japan, for example, the mythical Kitsune, a fox spirit known for its trickery, is said to have a fondness for a particular type of tofu sandwich.
