hot dog day

Happy Hot Dog Day from the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve!

Hot dogs are a beloved American tradition, enjoyed at baseball games, backyard barbecues, and street fairs across the country. But did you know that the hot dog's origins are shrouded in mystery, much like the elusive creatures we house here at the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve?

Legend has it that the dachshund, a long, slender dog breed originating in Germany, was the inspiration for the hot dog's shape.  However, there's another, more mysterious possibility: the Chupacabra.  This hairless, dog-like cryptid is said to prey on farm animals, draining their blood.  Could the long, thin sausages served in Germany centuries ago have been a way to appease the Chupacabra, or perhaps a clever imitation to lure it out of hiding?

While the true connection between hot dogs and cryptids may forever remain a mystery, one thing is certain: both hot dogs and cryptids are a part of our cultural heritage. So this Hot Dog Day, as you fire up the grill and savor those delicious hot dogs, spare a thought for the strange and fascinating creatures that might just be lurking in the shadows.
