Festivus Festivities at the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve!

While the snow may not be falling outside (let's be honest, it probably isn't even cold!), that doesn't mean we at the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve can't celebrate the spirit of the season! Today, we mark the glorious occasion of Festivus, a holiday for the rest of us – a chance to break free from the pressures of traditional celebrations and embrace the bizarre!

What is Festivus?

Originating on the hit sitcom Seinfeld, Festivus is a fictional holiday celebrated on December 23rd. It stands as a hilarious critique of commercialism and societal expectations during the holiday season. Here at the Haberdashery, we take inspiration from that sentiment and celebrate Festivus as a quirky way to appreciate the strange and unusual throughout the year.

Festivus Festivities with a Cryptid Twist!

• The Festivus Pole: Forget your fancy firs and spruces! In the spirit of Festivus, we've erected a magnificent...clothesline pole! Adorned with glittering tinsel (made from recycled materials, of course), it serves as a reminder that festivity doesn't require extravagance. Besides, wouldn't a Jackalope look rather silly perched on top of a Christmas tree?

• The Airing of Grievances: A core Festivus tradition, the Airing of Grievances allows us to share our frustrations with those pesky cryptids who've been causing trouble! Have you ever been woken up by a Mothman's screech? Perhaps a mischievous Kappa has pilfered your lunch from the breakroom fridge? Now's your chance to get it all off your chest! (Just remember, Yeti temper tantrums are best avoided...)

• Feats of Strength...Monster Mash Style!: Festivus culminates in a challenge, the Feats of Strength. This year, we'll be putting a cryptid twist on things! How about a friendly competition to see who can mimic the howl of a werewolf the most convincingly? Or maybe a log-rolling race, Bigfoot style? The possibilities are as endless as the cryptid sightings themselves!

Festivus Miracles: While Festivus rejects the commercialism of the season, there's always room for a little wonder. After all, isn't the existence of cryptids a marvel in itself? So, if you happen to spot a glimmering light in the swamp tonight (could it be a Rougarou?), or hear an unexplained giggle in the forest (perhaps a mischievous Pooka?), consider it a Festivus miracle!
