New year's Day
Ring in the New Year with a Howl at the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve!
Here at the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve, we celebrate the new year a little differently than most. We don't just clink champagne glasses and watch fireworks (though, we wouldn't discourage a good sparkler shower to celebrate keeping our resident fearsome beasts at bay for another year). No, at the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve, we celebrate by acknowledging the primal power of new beginnings and the untamed spirits that embody that wild energy.
Many cultures around the world have their own legends and creatures associated with the new year. In Japan, the Amabie, a three-legged, healing mermaid emerges from the sea, heralding a year of good fortune. In Norse mythology, the monstrous wolf Skoll chases the sun across the sky, forever hungry for a new day.
Here at the Preserve, we take inspiration from these legends and see the new year as a time to reconnect with the untamed wilderness that our cryptids represent. It's a time to appreciate the raw power of nature and the untamed corners of our world, the places where the unknown thrives.
So, this New Year's, we invite you to join us for:
A howling ceremony under the full (or nearly full) moon: Let out your primal howl and release the energy of the old year. Our resident werewolves (safely secured in their enclosure, of course) will join in the chorus.
A guided night hike through the Preserve: Explore the nighttime forest and hear the legends of the cryptids that call it home. Our knowledgeable guides will regale you with tales of hidden creatures and the folklore surrounding new year's celebrations around the world.
Special New Year's themed enrichment activities for our cryptids: Watch our resident Mothman attempt to snag a giant sequoia pinecone (his New Year's resolution is to finally reach those high branches) or see the mischievous Jersey Devil try his luck at a festive labyrinth made of hay bales.
