Sons Day
Happy Son's Day from the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve!
Today, we celebrate sons – the wonderful, baffling, and often times bewildering young men who bring so much joy (and sometimes chaos) into our lives. But did you know that sons hold a special place in some of the world's most fascinating myths and legends?
Across cultures, sons have been depicted as powerful figures, destined for greatness or cursed with terrible burdens. In ancient Egyptian mythology, Horus, the son of Osiris, waged war against his uncle Set to avenge his father's murder. His victory symbolized the triumph of order over chaos, a common theme in myths featuring sons.
Closer to home, some Native American legends speak of the Thunderbird, a colossal winged creature said to control the weather. These legends often portrayed the Thunderbird as the son of the Great Spirit, wielding immense power but answerable to a higher authority.
Here at the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve, we understand the importance of sons – both literal and metaphorical. After all, many cryptids are said to be the offspring of powerful supernatural beings. Take the Jersey Devil, for instance. Legend paints it as a monstrous creature born from the union of a woman and the Devil himself. While the truth behind the Jersey Devil remains shrouded in mystery, the legend highlights the potential for immense power – and chaos – to reside within sons.
So this Son's Day, we encourage you to celebrate the sons in your life. Shower them with love, patience, and maybe a few extra cookies (just in case they inherit any uncontrollable cravings from a mythical lineage). After all, you never know what kind of greatness they might achieve!
