Happy National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day!

At Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve, we love celebrating all sorts of holidays, even the ones centered around delicious treats. And what better way to celebrate than with a gooey, warm chocolate chip cookie?

Here are some fun facts about everyone's favorite cookie:

 * The chocolate chip cookie was invented in the 1930s by Ruth Wakefield, a chef at the Toll House Inn in Massachusetts.

 * Legend has it that Wakefield ran out of baker's chocolate and decided to chop up a chocolate bar instead, creating the chocolate chip cookie we know and love today.

 * The first recipe for chocolate chip cookies was published in Wakefield's cookbook in 1938.

But did you know that there's a cryptid with a sweet tooth? The Hidebehinde, a furry creature from American folklore, is said to have a particular fondness for sweets, especially cookies. So next time you're baking a batch of chocolate chip cookies, be sure to leave a few out for the Hidebehinde – you might just make a new friend!

We hope you have a happy National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day!
