Kombucha Day

Happy World Kombucha Day from the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve!

Here at the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve, we celebrate all things strange and… well, a little bubbly! That's right, today is World Kombucha Day, a time to raise a glass (or mason jar) to this delightfully fermented tea.

Kombucha's origins are shrouded in mystery, much like the creatures we house here at the Preserve. Legends whisper of its discovery during the Qin Dynasty in China, around 221 BC. Intriguingly, some believe the gelatinous SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast) that produces the tangy beverage might be a relative of the elusive Blob! This shapeless mass, often sighted trembling in swamps and forests, shares some characteristics with the SCOBY – a translucent, sometimes bumpy mass. Is there a connection? Perhaps further research is needed…

But back to kombucha! This effervescent elixir boasts a variety of health benefits, including gut health and immunity – perfect for keeping our cryptids strong and thriving. Here at the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve, we incorporate kombucha into our creatures' diets whenever possible. (Though we avoid giving it to the Mothman – last time, he got a little too… energetic!)

So, this World Kombucha Day, we encourage you to:

From all of us at the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve, cheers to a happy and healthy World Kombucha Day!
