Happy Almost-Monster Madness! A Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve April Fools Tradition

Here at the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve, we take our mission to protect and understand cryptids very seriously. But that doesn't mean we can't have a little fun every now and then! In fact, April 1st holds a special place in our hearts (or should we say, under our floorboards?)

For years, we've celebrated "Almost-Monster Madness" here at the Preserve. It's a day dedicated to celebrating the elusive and extraordinary creatures that might just be lurking in the shadows. Now, some folks might scoff and say there's no such thing as a Jackalope or a Jersey Devil. But we here at the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve prefer to take a more open-minded approach.

After all, on this very day in 1785, hoaxster Joseph Grinnell claimed to have discovered a race of "Moon Men" living on the moon. These fanciful creatures were said to be six feet tall, with one eye and a single leg! While the story was undoubtedly a fabrication, it serves as a reminder that even the most fantastical tales can capture our imaginations.

So, this April 1st, we encourage you to embrace the spirit of Almost-Monster Madness! Maybe set out a plate of cookies for the Loch Ness Monster (just in case), or leave a trail of glitter for a mischievous pixie. You never know, a little kindness (or sparkly temptation) might just attract a cryptid friend!

Remember, even if you don't see a glimmer of a Chupacabra or hear the howl of a Werewolf, there's a certain magic in keeping the flame of mystery alive. Here's to the unexplained, the extraordinary, and the creatures that bump in the night (or maybe just rearrange the furniture). Happy Almost-Monster Madness!
