Flannel Day

Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve Celebrates National Flannel Day!

Here at the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve, we take our cozy comfort seriously, and what better day to celebrate than National Flannel Day, which falls every February 10th! But did you know that flannel's soft embrace might hold a connection to a legendary creature of the night?

Flannel, that warming fabric of woven threads, has a long history dating back to Wales in the 17th century. Its name comes from the Welsh word "gwlanen," meaning "wool." But flannel isn't just about keeping humans warm. According to Native American folklore, the Sasquatch, a hairy bipedal creature said to roam the forests of North America, is particularly fond of a good quality plaid flannel. The belief is that the soft material helps the Sasquatch blend into the trees, especially during the colder months when the evergreens are their primary source of camouflage. While the existence of Sasquatch is unproven, one thing's for sure: flannel is a timeless fabric that offers warmth, comfort, and perhaps even a touch of cryptid camouflage!

So how can you celebrate National Flannel Day at the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve?
