At the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve, we celebrate all things unique and delicious, and what's more unique (and delicious) than bacon? That's right, folks, today is Bacon Day, a time to honor this savory treat!

But did you know bacon has a mysterious past, shrouded in legend and folklore?

Mythological Swine and the Gluttonous Jersey Devil

Legends from across the globe speak of revered pigs and their connection to the spirit world. In Norse mythology, Saehrimnir is a magical boar that provides an endless feast in Valhalla. In ancient Egypt, the pig was associated with Set, the god of chaos and darkness.

Here at the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve, we can't help but draw a parallel between bacon's irresistible allure and the Jersey Devil, a legendary creature from New Jersey with a pig-like appearance and an insatiable appetite. Perhaps the Jersey Devil's craving for flesh is a twisted reflection of our own love for bacon?
