Goddess

Happy Goddess of Fertility Day!

Here at the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve, we celebrate all things fantastical and mythical, and what better day than the Goddess of Fertility Day to delve into the lore of creatures known for their bountiful blessings?

From the Green Man, a legendary nature spirit associated with springtime and growth, to the benevolent Kitsune, a Japanese nine-tailed fox seen as a bringer of prosperity, cultures across the globe have their own stories of beings embodying fertility and abundance.

The Local Legend: The Hodag of Wisconsin

While we may not have a resident fertility goddess here at the Preserve (though Mrs. Haberdashery's scones are legendary for a reason!), North America has its own share of fascinating fertility-related cryptids. Take the Hodag, a lumbering beast said to hail from the swamps of Wisconsin. Described as a monstrous cross between a badger, a dog, and a bull, the Hodag was rumored to possess unusual strength and a ferocious appetite.

Though likely a tall tale – perhaps one meant to keep folks away from dangerous swampland – the Hodag stands as a reminder of the deep connection between nature and humanity's stories.

Celebrating Fertility at the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve

Today, we at the Haberdashery Cryptid Preserve encourage you to celebrate the wonders of growth and abundance in your own way! Perhaps plant a seed in your garden, bake a loaf of bread, or simply take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the natural world around you.

For those visiting the Preserve, we'll be offering special treats in the Cryptid Cafe – our famous honey cakes drizzled with mead, a nod to the libations poured in ancient fertility rites.

We hope you have a joyous Goddess of Fertility Day! Let's grow something wonderful together!
